About GCPS

The Gulf Coast Preservation Society is a nonprofit, 501c3 educational organization that was founded to inform people about major environmental threats facing the Gulf of Mexico, and to provide solutions to these problems. The Society works with many other nonprofit environmental organizations and concerned people who are dedicated to restoring a clean global environment for future generations.

With US oil import spending still growing, the US Congress is now considering expanding oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico along the pristine coast of Florida. We believe doing so would be a grave mistake, and that Congress should instead be encouraging new investments in renewable fuels where the country will receive the greatest benefit, both in the short term and in the long run.

In addition to encouraging Congress to extend tax rebates for alternative energy such as solar, tidal, and wind energy production, there is another reason why people in the Western Hemisphere, especially Americans, should care about seeing this film. Future environmental catastrophes can be avoided that would certainly occur from new oil platforms damaged each year by annual hurricanes, or additional oil spills certain to occur from more oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

As one of the sponsors of "Our Renewable Future," GCPS believes this landmark film will help spread the word about the many clean energy technologies for both electrical power generation and transportation that are now available for immediate use around the world.

"Our Renewable Future" will enable more people to hear about them.
